Manchester United Troll Arsenal on Twitter With Reminder of Humiliating 8-2 Mauling in 2011

Published on: 17 November 2016

Manchester United have landed the first blow over Arsenal, as the two sides prepare to face off at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

The Red Devils official Twitter account has reminded the world of United's astonishing 8-2 win over Arsene Wenger's teamat the start of the 2011/2012 season.

We'd 8-2 miss the chance to show this again... #MUFC https://t.co/1VNENdG5bM

A video with highlights of the match was posted along with the pun: "We'd 8-2 miss the chance to show this again...".

The result has surely gone down as one of the most shocking in Premier League history as United battered their once fierce rivals, who simply had no answer to the constant assault on their goal.

It's possible that Arsenal's team on Saturday could feature several first team players who played in that fateful game five years ago.

Francis Coquelin, Carl Jenkinson, Aaron Ramsey, Laurent Koscielny and Theo Walcott have all come a long way since then, but will certainly want to avoid a repeat ofone of the most harrowing days in recent Arsenal history.

It's unlikely we'll see a similarscoreline this weekend, but the result rather underlines the Gunners poor record at Old Trafford in the 10 last years.

Perhaps a good omen for the home team then, who will doubtlessly have enjoyed re-watching the highlights from their famous victory five years ago.
