Manchester United's Henrikh Mkhitaryan Reveals Who His Premier League Idol Was Growing Up

Manchester Unitedmidfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry was his Premier League idol growing up.


After a tough start at Old Trafford, the 27-year-old has finally won over manager Jose Mourinho, starting the 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday, during which he scored the winner. The manner of his strike was not dissimilar to the composure shown countless times by Gunners legend Henry, who scored 174 Premier League goals in 254 games.


"I always support Thierry Henry," the former Borussia Dortmund attacker revealed.

"When he was playing in Arsenal, he is one of my favourite players because at that time I was also a striker when I was a child, then I became a midfielder."


Mkhitaryan picked up a total of 49 goals and assists during his final season with Dortmund, and his displays in recent weeks have shown the potential contribution he could give to United.


Who knows where the team might have been in the Premier League standings had be been playing a little earlier.
