Maritzburg United CEO insists club will only sell Richard Ofori if the price is right

Maritzburg United Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Younis Kadodia has warned clubs aiming to do business with them this summer to be realistic and not expect to receive any gifts amid Richard Ofori's reported interest.

Ofori has been linked with a summer move to Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates following his impressive performances for Maritzburg this term.

The 26-year-old has kept an impressive 10 clean sheets in 24 matches and is only one behind SuperSport United’s Ronwen Williams who tops the table with 11.

According to Kadodia, the Team of Choice are willing to sell the Ghanaian at the right price in the summer, however, the club is yet to receive any concrete offers for the former Wa All Stars shot-stopper.

He also confirmed Ofori’s one-year contract extension by the KwaZulu-Natal based side.

"Yes, it’s correct. I think it’s something that happened just before the lockdown. It’s one more season extension," Kadodia told Far Post.

"I don’t think that’s a call I could make, obviously we want to keep him at Maritzburg."

"I think at this stage obviously there are rumours but yes, we haven’t received any formal offers for any players.

"So, I think the internet is one thing, offers are another, so interest via the media or offers via the club."

He added, "I think we’ve never stopped any player in the past, and I don’t think we will stop anybody in the future,"

"But I think at this stage it’s premature or speculation. I think once there are any offers obviously come true then we can caucus it and discuss something."

Ofori has been nominated for the 2019/20 South Africa Premier League Best Player awards.
