Mark Clattenburg is set to miss the FA Cup quarter-finals to instead take charge of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Cup final, theDaily Mailhave reported.

The 41-year-old will referee his first game in the Middle East since agreeing his big money move to Saudi Arabia.

Clattenburg will officiate the game betweenAl-Nassr andAl-Ittihad at the70,000-capacity King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

He is currently undertaking a three-month notice period in the Premier League before he takes up his £500k-per-year head of referees role in Saudi Arabia.

Clattenburg could still yet referee at the 2018 World Cup in Russia next summer, contrary to belief that his decision to quit the Premier League would rule him out of the tournament.

Such is his status as one of the world's best, it is understood that refereeing chiefs, includingUEFA boss Pierluigi Collina, are attempting to find a way of including him in the World Cup.

Clattenburg's new role will see him set up exchange arrangements to allow European referees to go to Saudi Arabia for one off games. He is expected to take charge of around 20 games himself, as well as looking to innovate the standards and practices of officiating in the country.

TheDurham-born referee reportedly turned down a £1m-per-year offer from China before agreeing the deal to move to Saudi Arabia, citing his disillusion withwith the politics of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited as the reason for abandoning the Premier League.
