Former Hearts of Oak defender, Dan Quaye says the playing body must be blamed for their shocking start to the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians have had a poor start and after five games played, the Rainbow Club have recorded just a win and have scored just a goal.

Their poor start leave them at the 17th on the league log with just five points.

Martin Koopman, who is the head coach of the side has come under pressure with some section of the fans calling for his sack.

However, Quaye beleives the Dutch trainer is not responsible for the woes of the club.

According to him, the players must be blamed for the poor start.

"The management have done everything to ensure the perform but it is not happening," he told Accra-based Asempa FM.

"I have heard some people blaming the coach but for me, it is not the coach. The players must be blamed for what is happening.

"It is always not about the coach. These current players have no experience so they must work hard and get the needed results," he added.

Hearts of Oak will be hosted by Bibiani Gold Stars in the matchday seven games at DUN's Park.
