MATCH REPORT: Asante Kotoko records a 3-1 win over Legon cities

Asante Kotoko began their 2019/20 Ghana Premier League campaign with a slender 1-0 win over Eleven Wonders. Justice Blay’s second-minute effort was enough to hand Kotoko a winning start and they will be hoping to make it two straight wins.

Legon Cities FC are high on confidence after their impressive away performance against Liberty Professionals which earned them a 2-2 draw.

The two clubs engage fans at the Accra Sports Stadium in Match Week 2 of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

The game was played under floodlights at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Both teams started the match with an impressive performance, Asante Kotoko had the first free-kick on the 8th minute in  dangerous area but Augustine Okrah's takes up the set-piece but was headed out of danger.

Legon Cities took a well deserved lead after 10 minutes of play through Greece-born Ghanaian international Papadopulos Panayois.

Greek-Ghanaian striker Panayotis Papadopoulos gave Cities an early advantage with a goal in the 8th minute.

But Augustine Okrah equalized before halftime as Emmanuel Gyamfi bagged a brace in the second half on the 51st and 60th minute.

Songne Yacouba took on two defenders and provided a cross into the goal area but took a wicked deflection before landing on Emmanuel Gyamfi had his brace from a header into the empty net to take all three points for Kotoko.

The pre-match discussion had been dominated by Shatta Wale’s appearance at the stadium. He showed up at halftime and delivered a great performance to thrill fans.

The win moved Kotoko to the summit of the table with six points and four goals. Leaving Legon cities still without a win.
