Bechem United has recorded an important 2-0 win over Elmina Sharks this afternoon to kick off their campaign in the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.
The two sides locked horns on the opening weekend of the Ghanaian top-flight at the Fosu Gyeabour Park in search of victory.
The first half started well for both teams who appeared well prepared for the start of the Ghanaian top-flight. Despite playing away from home, Sharks opened up play and posed a great threat whenever they surged forward.
Bechem United stayed calm without the ball and ensured that they stayed compact whenever they were not in possession.
It looked like the first half will end in a draw following a series of ding-dong affairs until Kwadwo Asamoah fired in a goal on the 43rd minute to give the hosts a deserved lead to take into the break.
Bechem United maintained their focus in the second half and searched for an insurance goal to keep their lead intact. Sharks tried to get back into the game but their efforts could not pose the desired threat especially after they were reduced to ten men.
A 90th minute equalizer from Bechem United put the game to bed, handing them all 3 points on the opening day of the new season.
