Medeama board chairman Toni Aubynn drops out of GFA Presidential race; set to contest Executive Council position

Medeama board chairman Dr. Toni Aubynn has dropped out of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential race and is set to contest for a place on the Executive Council.

Dr. Aubynn becomes the fourth football administrator to confirm his decision to contest for the elections after Asante Kotoko CEO, Mr. George Amoako, AshantiGold CEO Mr. Frederick Acheampong and Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Randy Abbey

The Normalisation Committee opened nominations for the 2019 FA elections on Monday.

The GFA Executive Council members have been reduced from 23 to 12 following the 2019 Extraordinary Congress held by the Normalisation Committee earlier this month.

He has previously worked as CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Director of Corporate Affairs for Tullow Ghana Limited.

Aubynn has also worked for Ranger Minerals’ Damang Mine and Gold Fields Ghana Limited in various senior management roles.

He has been the long-standing board chairman of Ghana Premier League side Medeama for an astonishing decade, raking in many sponsorships for the two-time FA winners.
