Ghana’s CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Medeama Sporting Club, are back in Tarkwa to prepare for their next Group A match against Young Africans of Tanzania at Essipon next Tuesday, July 26. The match will be the return fixture of their first round clash which ended 1-1 in Dar es Salaam last Saturday. The Ghanaians, who returned home last Sunday, fluffed a good opportunity to snatch an important away victory following two injury time blunders by Abass Mohammed and Bismark Oppong.

That was after Medeama’s new signing, goalkeeper Daniel Adjei, had pulled off some great saves early on to deny the Tanzanians.

Medeama striker Bernard Ofori cancelled a second- minute lead by Donald Ngomo Dombo with a cheeky backheel in the 17th minute but was held in check afterwards by the opponents’ solid defence till he was substituted by Oppong late in the second half.

The result left Medeama still in the third position with two points, behind Mouloudia Olympique (MO) Bejaia and leaders TP Mazembe who drew goalless in Bejaia last Sunday.

TP Mazembe now leads the table with seven points, followed by MO Bejaia with five points, Medeama (two points) and Young Africans (one point).

After next Tuesday’s game against Young Africans, Medeama will play their second consecutive home game against TP Mazembe on August 14, before travelling to Bejaia to contend with MO Bejaia in the last group match on August 23.
