Medeama SC crowned 2022/23 Ghana Premier League champions

Medeama Sporting Club have been crowned 2022/23 Ghana Premier League following 3-0 win over Tamale City on the final day of the season.

They clinched the trophy for theb first time by finishing with 60 points, five ahead of second-placed Aduana FC.

This is their first title since the purchase of now defunct Kessben FC and rebranded to Medeama SC in 2011.

The Mauve and Yellows did not waste any time as they referee whistled for the start of the game. Jonathan Sowah scored the opener just seven minutes into the game at the Tarkwa Akoon Park on Sunday on his way to hat-trick.

They held on to go into the break with a 1-0 advantage as their teeming fans got ready to celebrate a first league title.

After the break, they soaked in the pressure and went on to add to their tally to put the game beyond the reach of the visitors, who were desperate to get a win and avoid relegation.

Jonathan Sowah scored the second after 66 minutes to set the tone for the celebrations. He added a third for his hat-trick 10 minutes later to wrap up the victory.

Medeama SC will now represent Ghana in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.
