Medeama SC refutes pricing Justice Blay for $200,000

President and owner of Medeama SC, Mr Moses Armah Parker has denied claims of placing $200,000 on midfielder, Justice Blay.

The 28-year-old who spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Asante Kotoko has been tipped to return to the club ahead of their Caf Champions League campaign.

However, multiple reports in the media suggest that the Tarkwa based side are ready to let Blay leave for any amount less than $200,000.

But according to Mr Parker, who is a former Black Stars management committee member, says they are ready to negotiate with any club but no price tag has been placed on him since no club has approached Medeama yet for Blay.

"Medeama have not put any price tag on Blay. I don't know where that information is coming from because as I speak to you, no club has shown interest in the player, making it quite strange to put a price tag on him for now,” he told Graphic Sports.

“Though the club has plans of selling him to any club, foreign or local, the price will be communicated to any serious club that approaches us. As I speak, no club, including Kotoko, has shown interest.”

“The foreign clubs are not showing up because of the imposition of travel restrictions and the sealing of borders in the country and other countries as a result of the coronavirus which has affected player transfers. Blay is a promising player and I believe clubs will come on board for his services soon,” he noted.

Blay returned to Medeama last month after a successful 12 months loan spell with Kotoko due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 28-year-old midfielder emerged as Kotoko’s best player in the league, bagging five man-of-the-match awards, with one coming against Hearts of Oak whom he helped Kotoko to beat 2-1 at the Accra Stadium.

Blay also played an integral part in the Black Stars B team that participated in the 2019 WAFU Cup tournament in Senegal but were runners-up to tournament host, Senegal, after losing the final match through a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in full time.
