Medeama tactician Augustine Evans Adotey has thanked God following his outfit first Ghana Premier League title triumph.

The Yellow and Mauves clinched their first ever Ghana Premier League title after beating Tamale City at Akoon Park on the final day games on Sunday.

“Let me first give thanks to the Almighty God, from the rising of the sun onto it setting, I will say the Lord’s name is to be praised”

“I was brought here on a mission, it was half way of the season and the mission was to make sure Medeama win the title, low and behold my mission is fulfilled and that’s why I’m highly excited” he told StarTimes.

A brace from Jonathan Sowah and Joshua Agyemang’s strike propelled the Tarkwa-based club to victory on Sunday.

Their league triumph means the two-time FA Cup winners have ended the 46-year trophy drought in the Western Region.

The last time a representative from the Western Region won the Ghana Premier League was in 1977 when Sekondi Hasaacas won the title.

The Yellow and Mauves needed just a point to win the title but inflicted a comfortable 3-0 win over Tamale City which also resulted in the demotion of Tamale City.

Having clinched the GPL title, Medeama will be representing Ghana in next seasons CAF Champions League.
