Medeama SC defender Abdul Fatawu Hamidu has credited his side resoluteness for their qualification to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Making their debut in this prestigious competition, the Yellow and Mauves secured their place by defeating Remo Stars and Horoya AC in the qualifying round.

During the draw last Friday, Medeama were drawn in Group D against reigning champions Al Ahly, Algerian champions CR Belouizdad, and Tanzanian Champions Young Africans.

“What makes this team special is our determination, we’re determined to punch above our weight in Africa, make it to the group stages of the CAF Champions League, and we did it. I would credit the team’s hard work and resilience, which I had paid off.” He told Happy FM.

Hamidu made 19 appearances in the Ghanaian Premier League last season and managed to score two goals.

He played a huge role when Medeama edged out both Remo Stars and Horoya AC to progress to the group stage of the Champions League.

The enterprising defender has earned a back to back call up into the national team due to his swashbuckling performance for Medeama.
