Bibiani Goldstars coach Michael Osei has lauded the fighting spirit of Otto Addo and his charges after sealing qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars will be making their fourth appearance at the World Cup after missing the previous competition held in Russia in 2018.

Ghana drew 1-1 with Nigeria in second leg of the World Cup final play-offs in Abuja to progress on away goals rule.

"Ghana's qualification to the World Cup comes with great opportunities for players, coaches and even extends to former players of the national team. Some of these players would be watched the world over and show what he is made off," coach Osei told Times Sports.

"Some people want to downplay on that feat but beating Nigeria was no joke; no matter the state or strength the team. Of course, they had the galaxy of stars but the Ghanaians remained the very determined and showed the great character."

The four-time African champions have been placed in Group H together with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea of the global showpiece event.

Ghana lost 2-1 to Portugal in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and lost to Uruguay in controversial circumstances in 2010 in South Africa but will be meeting Korea Republic for the first in the World Cup finals.

The Black Stars will face Portugal in the opening game of the group before playing Korea and Uruguay.
