Middlesbrough 3-0 Swansea: Alvaro Negredo Bags a Brace as the Swans Slip to 19th

Published on: 16 December 2016

Alvaro Negredo scored twice before Marten de Roon grabbed his second goal for the club to send Bob Bradley's Swansea deeper into the relegation zone.

3 - Middlesbrough have scored three goals in a Premier League game for the first time since April 2009 against Hull. Buoyant.

Swansea City actually got off to a good start in the game, testing Victor Valdes early on with a low Gylfi Sigurdsson effort from range. Around 15 minutes later though, Adam Clayton absolutely bamboozled Swansea defender, Alfie Mawson, and whipped a decent low cross into the area which Negredo finished delightfully on the half-turn. One he'll be eager to watch again.

From this point, Swansea lost their momentum and Boro were the team on the front foot. They capitalised around the 30 minute mark when Jordi Amat clumsily dangled a leg in the box which - despite what didn't look like a lot of contact - brought Adam Forshaw down. Negredo stepped up and neatly placed the ball into the bottom corner to grab his fourth goal in as many games for Boro.

Swansea did their best to level before the break with Sigurdsson, their only real bright spark so far this season, at the centre of things for the Swans. Unfortunately for the struggling Bob Bradley, the Icelander was only able to muster up a blocked shot on the edge of the area.

The start of the second half belonged to the home side who went 3-0 up when Gaston Ramirez's dangerous cross was nudged home by De Roon for his second of the season. Swansea did their best to restore some pride but weren't able to so much as test Valdes until the 90th minute.

3 - Middlesbrough have scored three goals in a Premier League game for the first time since April 2009 against Hull. Buoyant.

Thanks to their 11th defeat of the season, this timeat the hands of the former league's lowest scorers, Swansea City sank to 19th place and have now conceded more goals than anyone else in the league (37).

Things really aren't looking good for Bob Bradley, the favourite to be the next man to lose his job, as he gets set toprepare his side for a Boxing Day clash with West Ham - well, if he doesn't receive the gift of redundancy for Christmas that is.

Middlesbrough, on the other hand, are now 14th and four points above the relegation zone. Whilst they haven't scored very many, they've been pretty stable defensively, conceding less than Liverpool so far this season.
