Malian football icon, Frederic Kanoute has thrown his weight behind Mohammed Kudus for the prestigious African Player of the Year Award.

The former Sevilla striker, who holds a strong admiration for the Ghanaian talent, has hailed Kudus as one of the most thrilling African footballers of the current season.

In an appearance on West Ham United's podcast, Kanoute emphasized the unique skills that set Kudus apart.

"He is really talented. He has strength and is good at running forward. He can play different positions. He is still quite young, but I think he's one of the most exciting African footballers around these days," Kanoute remarked.

Expressing optimism about Kudus' prospects in the African Player of the Year Award race, Kanoute was unequivocal in his support.

"So yeah he definitely has a chance for me," Kanoute affirmed.

Since joining West Ham United in August 2023 from Ajax, Mohammed Kudus has notched up an impressive record of 11 goals and 5 assists in 35 appearances for the Hammers.

The 23-year-old forward will be eager to add to his tally as West Ham faces Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League clash on Thursday evening.
