Mooy double boosts Terriers

Published on: 25 November 2018

Aaron Mooy scored twice for Huddersfield who moved clear of the bottom three with a win away at Wolves.

They won 2-0 with goals in each half by the Australian international, both good efforts from outside the area.

It was the visitors who took the lead after just five minutes, only their seventh goal of the season but arguably their best so far.

Philip Billing moved the ball into the Wolves half and found Erik Durm who did well to cut the ball back for Mooy to hit the ball first time and into the net from the edge of the area.

It was an excellent goal that rocked the home side who took time to get into a rhythm.

It was the visitors who went closest to increasing their lead before half-time with Steve Mounie's header being kept out by Matt Doherty just before the break.

Wolves had failed to impress, lucky to reach the interval just a goal down and they tried to make an immediate impact with a double substitution, Morgan Gibbs-White and Adama Traore on in place of Joao Moutinho and Ivan Cavaleiro.

Despite rarely looking threatening they did almost equalise about 10 minutes into the second half, Traore finding Ruben Neves but his effort was cleared off the line by Billing, goal-line technology ruling the ball had fractionally failed to go over the line.

Billing turned from defence into attack just minutes later when he could have extended the Terriers lead but his shot went past the post.

Wolves were creating a little more, looking threatening on occasions but it was the visitors who increased their lead after 73 minutes.

The Terriers were awarded a free kick outside the area and Mooy scored his and Town's second, bending a low kick round the wall and into the net, Rui Patricio getting a hand to the ball but failing to prevent it going in.

David Wagner's team are up to 14th in the table, Southampton replacing them in the bottom three.

The Terriers are next in action on Saturday when they host Brighton. They are 6/4 for another win while the Seagulls are 21/10 with the draw 19/10.

Town are 6/1 to win the game 1-0.
