Moreno convinced he\'s playing his best at Liverpool: Last year was very, very, very bad

Alberto Moreno feels he's playing the best football of his Liverpool career.

The fullback has earned a first call to the Spain squad this week.

He revealed: "I worked extremely hard after what was a very, very, very bad year and I gained Jurgen Klopp's confidence after doing a good job during the summer.

"This is a reward for the hard work that was done. Last year, everything went badly, to the point that in my head I was saying: 'Alberto, whatever you do it isn't going to work or be good enough'.

"I trained well but didn't play. I was doing things right but not playing. Many offers came my way during the summer but I never intended to leave Liverpool.

"The only thing I wanted to do was work hard and that's what I have done. Now I must take advantage of that moment."

So good have his performances been this season that he was given a recall to La Roja which means a lot to him.

"I wasn't expecting the call. I've been playing well this season but I still didn't expect that. For any footballer, it is a dream to wear the Spain jersey," he continued.

"I was in bed sleeping because my wife is pregnant and she was bad the day before so I went to bed a little late and when I woke up, I looked at my phone and saw the WhatsApp chat I was in.

"Immediately I knew something had happened. I then saw that I had been called up and I jumped on the bed in excitement. It was like I was in a bubble, I didn't know who to call or what to say."
