Jose Mourinho is demanding greater financial backing from the Manchester United board amid interest from PSG.

The Manchester Evening News claims that Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in contact with the Parisians following the Portuguese's glowing appraisal of the Qatari-backed club in an interview with French television station, Telefoot, last month.

It is reported that Mourinho wants the club to 'step up' and award him with more funds to inject into his squad.

The Red Devils have fallen eight points behind league leaders, and bitter rivals, Manchester City, who remain undefeated after eleven Premier League matches.

In his Telefoot interview, Mourinho labelled PSG as 'special'.

He said: "The other day my son who lives in London went to Paris and not to Manchester to watch the match.

"At the moment in Paris there is something special. Magic, quality, youth, it's fantastic."
