Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif (Hon.) believes that the sponsorship deal with Telecommunications giant MTN will help the team prepare well ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

MTN have signed a one sponsorship deal with the Ghana Football Association to become a sponsor of the Black Stars.

The deal which is worth $2million dollars was announced on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association in Accra.

"Ghana’s historic qualification and performances at the FIFA World Cup since 2006, have largely been enhanced by the support of corporate Ghana. I am confident that this latest show of faith by MTN will motivate the team to Qatar and beyond," Mustapha Ussif said.

"It is also important for this huge investment to be put to a judicious use so that it will make the desired impact on the team."

Black Stars make a return to the tournament after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia and have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.

Black Stars will play Switzerland in an International friendly on November 17, before travelling to Qatar for the World Cup.
