Christian Atsu and Hatayspor's Sporting Director were missing after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey. This led to calls for prayers for his safe recovery, with both current president Nana Akufo-Addo and former president John Mahama getting involved.

The sad news was confirmed by his agent in Turkey on Saturday morning.

Wakaso took to his Twitter account to tweet "Rest well" and quoted a picture of the pair together with two broken hearts.

Atsu played for various European clubs, such as Chelsea, FC Porto, Newcastle United, Everton, and Bournemouth.
