Former Manchester United and Ajax midfielder Arnold Muhren has blasted Jose Mourinho ahead of this week's Europa League final.

Muhren, who won the FA Cup twice in three seasons at Old Trafford, has told the Reds' boss that his lack of style goes against all the best United traditions.

He said: “I honestly still love Manchester United, but I am also a lover of good, attractive football.

“And that is why on Wednesday I want Ajax to win. You see, football has to win.

“When I played for United, we always played the same way. People could only dream about our playing style and formations.

“I loved the real English 4-4-2 style. Their system or formation now? I don't know because it changes almost every week.

“United cannot get any rhythm into their game because there is a lack of direction.

“It is a sharp contrast to the high-tempo attacking football that Ajax use."
