Former Ghana Captain John Mensah has made one of the weirdest revelations in football following his submission that, he avoided surgery because he was scared of going under the knife to correct an injury.

The defender who made his intentions clear of returning to the Black Stars says he chose the traditional method of treating an injury he sustained rather the regular surgical method.

John Mensah’s contract with FC Nitra in Slovakia ended in 2016 and has since been inactive due to injury but he says he has now recovered is looking forward to returning to the field.

“My contract finished in November, 2016 and I got a small injury so I came down for treatment. I was supposed to do surgery there but it seems I was afraid to do surgery,” he told Citi FM.

“I decided I will treat myself home so I came down and I was doing this special treatment. Yes, I am healed but I am still recovering.” He added.

The former Lyon player who wants to make a return to the national team has played 86 times for the Black Stars and scored 3 times.

John Mensah last played for Club Side FC Nitra in Slovakia.
