My player selection was not a gamble - Otto Addo after Black Stars defeat to Brazil

Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has defended his player selection against Brazil despite the heavy defeat.

Addo in their pre-World Cup friendly fielded a surprising starting XI which many football fans talking about.

The Black Stars conceded three goals in the first half but after substitutions after recess, the West African country put up a better performance without conceding against the five-time world champions.

Speaking after the game, the Borussia Dortmund assistant manager insisted that his player selection, especially in the first half, was not a gamble.

"My selection was not a gamble," Addo said after the game.

"It was a decision of complex things.

"Line up was good but we had to work harder to close the spaces," he added.

Brazil breezed past Ghana with a comfortable 3-0 victory in a friendly in Le Havre, France, on Friday.

Marquinhos opened the scoring after nine minutes with a bullet header from a corner by Raphinha.

Richarlison extended the lead 19 minutes later with a pinpoint first-time strike from the edge of the area into the bottom left corner.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward added the third five minutes before halftime with a clever header from a free kick by Neymar.
