My target is to perform better than I did last season – Kotoko forward Steven Mukwala

Asante Kotoko striker Steven Desse Mukwala has revealed his ambitions of doing better than he did last season in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

The Ugandan international joined the Porcupine Warriors in August 2022 and made a good account of himself, scoring 11 goals in 31 games in the domestic top-flight last season.

Generally, the 24-year-old scored 13 goals and provided 5 assists across competitions during the 2022/23 season, where Kotoko failed to defend the league title.

Asked about his target at a pre-match conference, Mukwala said, “Basically, my target for the season is to perform better than I did last season. I will do my best to become good”

Meanwhile, Mukwala remains confident in his Kotoko’s outfit despite slow start to the campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors are yet to win a game after two games into the domestic top-flight campaign.

The record Ghana Premier League holders kick started the season with a 0-0 stalemate on home turf against Heart of Lions before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to Bibiani Goldstars in the week fixture.

“We have started on a small note but I believe with the technical team, we shall come good. As the coach said, it’s a process” he said at the pre-match conference.

Asante Kotoko will host Karela United in the week 3 fixture of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
