Myron Boadu is out for tactical reasons- AZ coach Arne Slot

AZ Alkmaar coach Arne Slot has revealed that the reason for dropping Myron Boadu in the last few games is mainly tactical.

Boadu, who was arguably the club's based player last season has seen his playing time significantly reduced this campaign.

Slot has however calmed fears of any potential problems with the player.

"It's never easy not to draft him when you have such a good player as Myron Boadu at your disposal," Slot told FOX Sports . "But today we choose to let Albert become the extra midfielder. Without it being at the expense of Dani (De Wit, ed.). He has to stay high on the field, so that we can play the long ball. "

"I think we also need that extra midfielder to play under the pressure", Slot continues. "If you then know that in the final phase you still have Myron on hand with his speed, then that can be even more pleasant." The AZ coach already joked to Boadu that he trains better now that he is in a substitution. "I said that with a wink. I am very satisfied with how Myron has played and trained over the years."

"He didn't need that last year either. Then he had an excellent season. This year there was the unpleasant circumstance that he had corona. He was out for a while because of that. We had a very busy schedule and had to keep going. I would be surprised if you don't see the football fan Myron Boadu in the line-up in the coming months."
