Namibia beat Ghana 1-0 in pre-AFCON friendly

The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a shock 1-0 to Namibia in their first of two pre-AFCON friendlies on Sunday.

The match was played behind closed doors on the training field of Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence in Dubai

Manfred Starke scores the only goal of the game for the Brave Warriors after Lawrence Ati Zigi failed to hold unto his shot.

Newcastle winger Christian Atsu had the opportunity to restore parity for Black Stars from the penalty spot but he failed to convert.

Ghana were awarded another penalty in the second half of the game which was also missed by Mubarak Wakaso.

Kwesi Appiah’s men continued to push for an equalizer but a resolute Namibia defense held on to upset the West African giants.

Ghana will face South Africa in their final warm up game on June 14 before the team departs to Egypt for the tournament.

The four time champions have been paired in Group F alongside champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau
