Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Suwon FC in the K-League 1 2nd round, despite playing with 10 men for the majority of the match.
The game, held at Suwon Stadium on Saturday, showcased a thrilling contest between the two sides.
The first half of the game saw Jeonbuk goalkeeper Jeong Min-ki making a series of impressive saves to keep Suwon FC at bay, denying Monreal's header during a counterattack in the 9th minute. At a corner kick in the 25th minute, Boateng's shot was blocked by the goalkeeper, and his subsequent attempt missed the goal.
The turning point of the game came in the 30th minute when Nana Boateng was sent off after raising his foot high while attempting to catch an aerial ball, resulting in a collision with Suwon's Kang Sang-yoon. The referee's decision left Jeonbuk with 10 men for the remainder of the match.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Jeonbuk managed to hold on until halftime. However, Suwon FC took the lead early in the second half when substitute Lee Seung-woo scored with a sharp shot just one minute after coming onto the field.
Jeonbuk refused to give up and found an equalizer in the 8th minute of the second half. Thiago, with a sensational shot from the right, converted a cross from the right flank to make it 1-1.
