Veteran football administrator, Nana Fitz has noted that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should wait and secure sponsorship before seeing to the start the new Ghana Premier League season.

The football community is delighted after hearing that the new GPL season will finally start late next month.

Meanwhile, one thing that gives a lot of people worry is the lack of sponsorship for the upcoming League season.

The experience Nana Fitz who has witnessed the reign of several GFA administration has urged President Kurt Okraku and his Executive Council to secure a sponsorship for League before its starts.

“I don’t have a say whether the league should be played this month or next year but we should make sure we have sponsorship, we should be prepared to pay referees and bring the confidence back”, he said.

With several speculations indicating that the GFA is trying to secure $10 million from the government to be used to run the League, Nana Fitz insists that it should not be an option if the football governing body does not want any political interference in the running of the sports in the future.

“If we don’t want government of Ghana to interfere in our football we should go in for their money as a sponsorship and will be political when government sponsors the FA”, he noted.
