Communication team member of Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwah has defended the club’s decision to recruit young players from lower-tier leagues.

The Porcupine Warriors are under rebuilding process following an unimpressive season last-term, where the club finished 4th on the Ghana Premier League standing.

Prosper Narteh Ogum who made a return to the club following the dissolution of the board and management have recruited players from the lower divisions.

Players like Dwamena Kyei from WAFA, Peter Amidu Acquah from PAC Academy, Bernard Somuah from Afigya Liberty and Samuel Somuah from Tano Bofoakwa have all joined the club.

Some supporters of the club are said to have raised concerns about the recruitment of young players into the team ahead of the new season.

But Nana Kwame Dankwah thinks otherwise and has therefore defended the club’s transfer policy.

“It is the divisional players we use for business. In football the player’s resale value is what matters. Aged players can help you but when you want to transfer them how much can you make. And football is a big business today.

“So, you just don’t bring in any players but I am confident the boys who have come in have individual brilliance but to play as a team, they are getting it gradually.

“Despite bringing in big players in the past, Kotoko also introduced some young ones.”
