Faouzi Ghoulam, who came off in the first half of yesterday's Napoli v Bologna match, was examined at Villa Stuart in Rome.
The examinations revealed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the medial meniscus of his left knee.
Ghoulam, assisted by the head of the medical staff Dr Canonico, will undergo surgery by Professor Mariani today at Villa Stuart.
