Following President Alpha Conde's ouster, Keita got caught up in the political upheaval that has engulfed his native country in recent days.

Guinea's World Cup qualifier against Morocco in the capital, Conakry, was postponed on Monday due to the coup. CAF and FIFA are yet to bring out a new date for the match.

While the Moroccan national team and match officials were permitted to leave late on Sunday, land and air crossings remained barred, leaving Keita in Guinea.

Liverpool were satisfied that the player was safe, and they maintained regular communication with the appropriate authorities in order to secure his return to England.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the matter has finally been addressed, with Keita and several of his Guinea teammates flying out of Conakry international airport on Tuesday and returning to Europe.
