Nations FC assistant coach Johnson Smith has lauded Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito following the club’s impressive performance in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Still Believe lads defied all odds to reach the semifinals of their maiden participation in the Confederation Cup campaign.

Dreams FC were on the brink of making history, but things fell apart after succumbing to a heavy defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to Zamalek.

The Ghana FA Cup holders went into the return leg with the advantage after holding the Egyptian powerhouse to a pulsating goalless draw in the first leg played at the Cairo International Stadium.

But the Ghanaian outfits hopes of reaching the finals dashed after succumbing to a 3-0 defeat.

Despite the setback, the former Asante Kotoko coach has eulogized Karim Zito for guiding his outfit to what seems to be a successful campaign.

“It’s bad at all. He has done well. Nobody gave them the chances to reach semifinals” he told Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com.

Dreams FC will now switch their attention to the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, where they have reached the semi-final. The FA Cup holders could return to Africa if they successfully defend their title.
