The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee has applauded Kumasi Asante Kotoko for emerging as champions of the tier 1 of the special competition.

The Porcupine Warriors tamed Karela United in the finals of the tier 1 competition whiles beating them 4-1 on penalties after playing out a one all draw at the end of regulation time.

A goal each from the two teams in the second half was not enough to decide who wins the tier 1 of the special competition which started a couple of months ago. Having resorted to the penalty shootout to separate the two teams, it was the Red Army that converted most of their kicks to ensure they carried the day.

After being crowned the champions, the GFA through a post on their official Twitter handle has congratulated the club and confirmed that they will be representing Ghana in the next edition of the CAF Champions League.

“Congratulations to the Fabulous boys @AsanteKotoko_SC for emerging as winners of the NC Special Competition Tier One. The Red Army have also earned the opportunity to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League Competition later this year”, the post read.
