Neil anticipates open game

Published on: 22 August 2018

Alex Neil is expecting a very open game when his Preston North End side come up against his former club Norwich City on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Scotsman was in charge at Carrow Road between January 2015 and March 2017 and guided the Canaries to promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in the 2014/15 campaign.

However, they were relegated from the top-flight after just one season and Norwich have finished eighth and 14th in the Championship in the last two campaigns.

Norwich are 10/1 to be promoted this season while Preston are 9/1 to go up. Meanwhile, Neil's side are 10/1 to win Wednesday's match at Carrow Road from behind.

The Preston boss said: "Playing-wise a lot of the squad have moved on at Norwich, so it will be very different from when I was there.

"They play an open and expansive game. They dominate the ball, make a lot of passes and in the league they are number one for passes made - and I think we are number two - so it will be an interesting game and we will see how it pans out."

Neil will be without the suspended Paul Gallagher for the match.
