New AC Milan defender to replace Musacchio in starting line-up

After seeing a two-goal advantage disappear against Napoli, AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso is expected to make several changes against Roma on Friday.

The Rossoneri will look to get their season back on track after falling 3-2 to the Partenopei, and it looks as though it’s the backline that will be altered the most.

Mattia Caldara – who joined from rivals Juventus in the summer – is expected to make his Serie A debut with the club, with Matteo Musacchio making way for him.

Gattuso had raised question marks over the Italian’s ability to play in a four-man defence in recent weeks, but it appears he has won over the tactician with his performances in training.

Ignazio Abate is favourite to start at right-back ahead of Davide Calabria, while Hakan Calhanoglu’s return from suspension means Fabio Borini will start the match from the bench.

Probable AC Milan line-up (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Abate, Caldara, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Biglia, Bonaventura; Suso, Higuain, Calhanoglu.
