Newcastle furious after missing out on permanent Sturridge deal

Published on: 30 January 2018

Newcastle have rued the chance of signing Daniel Sturridge on loan as they had hoped to have signed him on a permanent deal.

Sturridge chose West Brom to be closer to his family in the Midlands and it now leaves Rafa Benitez in desperate search of a striker before the window closes.

Benitez was thought to be confident of signing of Nicolai Jorgensen from Feyenoord, but the £22 million fee is believed to be a gamble not worth risking by owner Mike Ashley.

Newcastle's top scorer is summer signing Joselu who has scored just 4 goals this season.
