Jose Mourinho's winless run at St James' Park in the Premier League was extended Sunday.
Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, who started the game in the bottom three, made it a seventh consecutive league visit without a win.
The United manager said in the build-up that he is fond of St James' Park, a place he calls "a home" to his mentor Sir Bobby Robson, who managed Newcastle between 1999 and 2004 after spells with Mourinho at Porto and Barcelona.
He may have changed his mind after seeing Matt Ritchie score the only goal of the game Sunday to ensure United slipped further behind table-toppers Manchester City.
Mourinho has had some success at Newcastle after recording League Cup wins in 2004 and 2006.
But a Premier League win at St James' Park still eludes him, an odd quirk in the career of a man who has won the title on three occasions.
May 15, 2005: Newcastle 1-1 Chelsea
Mourinho's first visit to St James' Park in the Premier League came on the final day of the 2004-05 season, his first campaign in English football. Geremi scored an own goal in the first half that was quickly cancelled out by a Frank Lampard penalty. Mourinho will not have minded too much having seen Chelsea comfortably win their first title since 1955 ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United.

May 7, 2006: Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea
Mourinho was sent to Newcastle on the final day of the following season in 2005-06. Defender Titus Bramble scored in the second half, and even though the hosts had Stephen Carr sent off moments later, Chelsea could not find an equaliser. But just like 12 months earlier, Mourinho will not have cared with his team already crowned champions to make it back-to-back titles.
April 22, 2007: Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea
Perhaps the first time Mourinho was bothered by a result at St James' was in his third season at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were still in the title race in April but a goalless draw at Newcastle contributed to a run of five straight draws to end the Premier League season as United lifted their first title since 2003. Chelsea beat Sir Alex Ferguson's team in the FA Cup final to end the season on a high but their league crown had already gone to Old Trafford.
November 2, 2013: Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea
Mourinho's first spell at Chelsea ended in September 2007, but after stints at Inter Milan and Real Madrid, he returned in 2013. It did not, however, mark the start of an improved record at St James' Park. His first visit following his return ended in a 2-0 defeat thanks to goals from Yoan Gouffran and Loic Remy -- only Chelsea's second Premier League defeat of the season.
December 6, 2014: Newcastle 2-1 Chelsea
In December 2014, striker Papiss Cisse scored twice in the second half to put Newcastle 2-0 up. After Steven Taylor was sent off for two bookable offences after 81 minutes, Didier Drogba pulled a goal back seven minutes from time but Chelsea could not force an equaliser. It was Chelsea's first Premier League defeat of the season after 15 games but it did not stop Mourinho from lifting a third title in May.
September 26, 2015: Newcastle 2-2 Chelsea
Another result at St James' Park that will have stung. Champions Chelsea started the 2015-16 season in wretched form and by the time they turned up at Newcastle in September, they had won just two of their first six league games. Chelsea needed late goals from Ramires and Willian to earn a point at St James' after Newcastle had gone 2-0 up after an hour. The result was followed by just two wins from their next nine games in all competitions and Mourinho was eventually sacked in December.
February 11, 2018: Newcastle 1-0 Manchester United
Despite Mourinho's record at Newcastle, United would still have expected to beat a team who had not won a league game at home since October and started the game in the relegation places. But Matt Ritchie got the only goal of the game in the second half and United slipped to their second defeat in three Premier League games to leave themselves 16 points adrift of Manchester City in the title race with just 11 games to play.
