Newcastle Midfielder Moussa Sissoko Closing on on Inter Milan Move After Agreeing Personal Terms

Published on: 20 August 2016

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko is set for a move to Italy after agreeing personal terms with Inter Milan, according toFrance Football.

The report details that while personal terms have been agreed, the transfer is far from finalised, with the Nerazzurri yet to meet Newcastle's hefty £25m valuation of the player.

Sissoko has expressed a desire to leave the Magpies in the summer and Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez clarified that, if they receive an offer adequate enough, they will not stand in the Frenchman's way.

"Moussa is now the big name in the market," Benitez said."If someone wants Moussa they have to pay.

"If we are happy with the price, and he is happy, then we can maybe consider. But if we are not happy, then he can stay here and I will be really, really pleased to keep him."

Sissoko earlier this summer confirmed his reasons for leaving, saying that he wants the opportunity to play in the Champions League. Add to that a natural worry about retaining his place in the national squad after an impressive Euro 2016 campaign, his mind has been made up for a while.

I spent three and a half years here. I gave everything for this club and I want to play some big games. For that I need to go somewhere else, said Sissoko. I want to play in the Premier League, I want to play for a big club who can get into the Champions League. That's why I said I want to leave this year.

I've spent a lot of time here and now it's time to look forward. The fans need to understand my situation, I hope they will and that everything will be OK.

Inter manager Frank de Boer appeared to confirm that the club are at least monitoring Sissoko.

We need to assess the squad and see what happens in the transfer market. Joao Mario and Moussa Sissoko are good players."
