Newcastle United boss Bruce delighted to see Christian Atsu return

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has expressed his happiness following the return of Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu from injury ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash in Premier League on Sunday.

Atsu resumed full training this week after being on the sidelines with a hamstring injury while playing for Ghana at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations staged in Egypt in June.

The former FC Porto forward has handed the Magpies a timely boost ahead of the crucial game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“Christian Atsu has been on the pitch all week as well, who I hadn’t even seen until Tuesday," Bruce told reporters on Friday ahead of Sunday's showdown, as reported by his club's official website.

"So it was good to see him and what he will offer us as well, which is important.”

The 27-year-old's injury saw him miss Newcastle's first two league games of the season against Arsenal and Norwich City.

He made 28 league appearances and scored one goal for Newcastle United last season.
