Newcastle unlikely to secure deals for Czech duo

Published on: 30 January 2018

The struggles are continuing for Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

The club is failing in its bid to secure deals for two players from the Czech first division. Newcastle made a very serious attempt to sign the Sparta Prague goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, and the Victoria Plzen striker Michal Krmencik.

However, it appears both bids are set to fail, as Newcastle do not have the financial power to complete both deals on a permanent basis.

The St. James' Park club was hoping for loan moves, but it appears the Czech clubs are not interested in such an arrangement.

It seems the transfer window will end in serious frustration for manager Rafael Benitez, who was very clear about the need for reinforcements to help keep the team in the Premier League.
