Next Black Stars coach should be brave - Augustine Arhinful

Former Ghanaian forward Augustine Arhinful has advised the Ghana Football Association to appoint a brave and uncompromising coach to lead the Black Stars.

The Football Association dissolved the technical teams of all national teams last week including both male and female national teams.

Coach Kwesi Appiah and his entire back room staff have all been shown the exit door following a poor performance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where they were eliminated at the Round of 16 by Tunisia on penalties.

The search for a new coach is currently underway as the debate on whether a local or foreign coach should be appointed continues.

According to the 45-year-old, the next Black Stars coach should possess certain qualities that make him unique as compared to the previous coaches.

"The next Black Stars Coach should be one that is tough and uncompromising. He should be brave," he said in an interview with Accra-based radio station Asempa FM.

"Aside being a good tactician, the next Black Stars coach should also be a good communicator…I was following the Ghana-South Africa post match interview of Kwesi Appiah and he said something about he doesn’t believe in  formation or so, although he didn’t really mean to say that, the media made news out of it because he didn’t communicate it well.

He added, "I therefore believe the next Black Stars coach should be one that communicates well, he should be articulate."
