Ghana Football Association [GFA] president, Kurt Okraku has said Nico Williams will play for Ghana despite making his debut for the Spanish national team.

The Athletic Bilbao forward earned a maiden call-up for their Nations League games against Switzerland and Portugal.

The 20-year-old was introduced in the second half of the game in their 2-1 defeat to the Swiss.

Nico has been on the radar of the Ghana FA for years and after Inaki Williams switched nationality to play for the West African country, Ghanaian football fans were hoping Nico will follow the footsteps of his brother but decided to feature for the 2010 world champions.

However, Mr. Okraku speaking in an interview reiterated that Nico has decided to feature for Spain but remains optimistic that he will eventually play for Ghana.

"Listen to me, Nico is Ghanaian (laughs)," the GFA boss told deia.eus.

"To this day he has been summoned by Spain. I wish him the best, but Nico will come home.

"I know he's coming home.

"Look, Iñaki also played with Spain. We'll keep talking, he's one of us," he added.

Nico will be hoping to feature against Portugal tonight.
