2022 FIFA World Cup playoff: Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen keen on overcoming improved Ghana in Abuja

Published on: 28 March 2022

The head coach of the Nigeria national team, Augustine Eguavoen is working with his squad to devise a plan to overcome Ghana in the second leg of the playoff tie to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The coach who is only in charge of the Super Eagles for the interim was in the dugout last Friday when his team labored to earn a goalless draw against the Black Stars in Kumasi.

After that game, several players in the Nigeria squad are reported with injuries and may miss the reverse fixture.

Amongst the unfit players include star winger Samuel Chukwueze as well as Zaidu Sanusi and Innocent Bonke.

Although the latest information picked up from sources in Nigeria indicates that Bonke has trained with the team this evening, the other two players must wait for further assessment to determine whether they can play any part in the decisive encounter.

Nonetheless, coach Augustine Eguavoen is confident of working with the available squad members to brush aside Ghana in the crucial clash scheduled to be played at the Moshood Abiola National Sports Stadium.

The game will kick off at 17:00GMT on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
