Nigeria defender Calvin Bassey is interested about the Super Eagles World Cup qualification over starting role.

Bassey, who plies his trade for Rangers started from the bench last Friday when Nigeria held the Black Stars to a 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen had to introduce him in the 74th minute but his presence did not change anything as the game ended 0-0.

Ahead of the return fixture on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Bassey says he prioritizes World Cup qualification over starting role.

"That's not my decision, that's not up to me," Bassey said when asked his reaction to Nigerians asking for the coach to start him on Tuesday.

"I am going to give my best every training session and whatever the manager decides and wants to do, I'm on board with it and support it. So, if [Zaidu] Sanusi starts, I want him to do well. The most important thing for me is that the team wins, whether or not I am starting or not."

The Black Stars have arrived safely in Abuja and are currently lodging at their hotel.

The team will train at the match venue this evening at stipulated by CAF and FIFA.

Ghana are chasing their 4th World Cup qualification whereas Nigeria search for their 7th qualification.
