In a disappointing blow to VfB Stuttgart and its loyal fans, midfielder Nikolas Nartey is set to endure an extended absence from the pitch as he embarks on a much-needed break to recover from a debilitating injury.

Nikolas Nartey's comprehensive investigations in Stuttgart on Thursday found damage to the knee joint's cartilage.

Current projections are that the Ghanaian midfielder, who was born in Denmark but has a history of ailments, will be out at least through the end of the year after undergoing surgery in the upcoming weeks.

A more accurate assessment is only possible after the operation.

On 29 August 2019, Nartey joined VfB Stuttgart on a four-year deal. A day later after joining Stuttgart, Nartey was loaned out to Hansa Rostock for the 2019–20 season.

The 23-year-old made only five starts in the 2022/23 Bundesliga.

Nartey is under contract in Stuttgart until 2025. According to Transfermarkt, the player is worth around two million euros.
