No GFA official can influence a coach worth his salt - Former Sports Minister

Former Minister for Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, says no Ghana Football Association official can influence a coach worth his salt in player selection for the senior national team, the Black Stars.

These reports of officials interfering in player selection has been in the discussions for a very long time now.

The Bawku Central Member of Parliament stated that Ghana Football Association officials can only make recommendations but can’t impose players on the coach.

“If you have a coach worth his salt, nobody in the FA will be able to influence him as to his choice of players.

“You’ll only make your recommendations, he’ll access them and sometimes your recommendations make sense, he’ll accept them and if they don’t make sense he’ll reject them.

“There’s nothing you can do about it because he’s a coach worth his salt.”

The Black Stars are without a coach again after the sacking of head coach Chris Hughton following Ghana’s poor showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
