Black Stars medical team has provided an injury update on Ghana defender ahead of the Comoros showdown on Tuesday.

The Besiktas centre-back was forced off with an injury when the Black Stars inflicted a narrow win over Madagascar in the opening 2026 World Cup qualifying game last Friday.

Amartey was replaced by Kasim Nuhu as the Black Stars picked a crucial victory against Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The former Leicester City defender has undergone MRI scans but no obvious injury was detected.

Meanwhile, Amartey has been ruled out of the game against Comoros after failing late fitness test.

The Black Stars are already in Comoros ahead of the much-anticipated game on Tuesday afternoon. The team held their first training session in Comoros on Sunday and are expected to round up preparation today for Tuesday’s showdown.
