Nolito Hopeful Over Future Celta Vigo Return After Admission of 'Feeling Lonely' in England

Published on: 11 November 2016

Manchester City's Nolito has admitted that he still misses playing for Celta Vigo as he revealed he harbours hopes of turning out for his former club in the future.

The forward completed a £13.8m move to City from the La Liga outfit after his excursions at Euro 2016 with Spain, and appeared to be settling well into life in England with five goals in his first 12 appearances for the Premier League side.

However, in an interview with Marca, Nolito stated that, while he was adapting to the cultural and footballing aspects of the UK, he claimed that he felt lonely at times as he pined for his former club in the Ibrerian peninsula.

He said: "I miss Celta a lot. I would like to return. Provided I can, I will return.

"My adaptation (in England) is going well. I felt a little alone but in the dressing room we speak a lot of Spanish. That is why I chose not to study English - with Pablo Zabaleta, David Silva, Jesus Navas, Sergio Aguero and lots of Spanish-speaking technical staff. Someday I will have to take the time to do it."

The 30-year-old, who is currently on international duty with the Spain international squad, only made his senior debut back in November 2014 at the age of 28, but he stated that he was enjoying making up for lost time after waiting so long for a first-team call up.

Nolito continued: "It's been an intense and very happy dream, I'm enjoying every time I come away with my country. It's true that there have been lots of different players (called up), but I think that's good."

He also commented on his club and international team mate David Silva, and claimed that the mercurial playmaker would be held in a different light playing in Spain's top tier compared to the lack of praise he receives from English fans and the media.

He added: "Silva is a top player and maybe in our country is valued little, if he plays in Barca or Madrid, things would be different. If he played in Barça or Madrid he would be valued five times more and we would be talking about another Silva."
