Board Chairman of Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV has lauded under-fire board members, Alhaji Akambi and Vincent Sowah-Odotei.

The pair have come under intense pressure following the club's elimination from the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Phobians crashed out of the preliminary stage of Africa’s second-tier club football competition after losing 1-3 on aggregate to Malian side Real Bamako.

Supporters after the game demanded the dismissal of the pair.

However, Togbe Afede XIV speaking in a press conference threw his full support behind the pair.

“I can say without any doubt that the likes of Akambi and Honourable Odotei are very rare…When it comes to ensuring value for money, I have not seen anybody like Akambi and Honourable Odotei.

"Sometimes I am amazed about the level of commitment from these people and trust me the successes of 2021, 2022 on the pitch…would never have been possible without the dedication of these people," he added.

Meanwhile, the Phobian Club have appointed Serbian trainer, Slavko Matic as the new head coach on a two-year deal.
